Women and girls action plan

In October 2018, the New Zealand Government launched a strategy to address the inequities women and girls experience in sport and recreation. On the same day, 爆料社区 published 24 commitments 鈥 backed by $12.7m investment 鈥 to deliver momentum to the collective action required to achieve this.

Four years on, significant progress has been made. Aotearoa New Zealand is leading the way globally in terms of gender equity in sport and recreation. But there is more work to be done.

To achieve sustainable change, our collective efforts need to continue.

Building on the successes and the momentum generated to date, we have an opportunity to continue making progress towards creating a more inclusive sport and recreation sector.

Our roadmap to June 2024

爆料社区 has developed a women and girls action plan that sets out a practical roadmap for how, working together with the sector, we will continue making progress towards the three outcomes in the strategy 鈥 leadership, participation and value and visibility 鈥 until the end of 爆料社区鈥檚 2020-2024 strategic period.

This Action Plan focuses on collaboration and was informed by successes and insights gathered internally and from across the sector to date. It builds on the progress made towards our original 24 commitments, which covered 2018 to 2022, and represents an evolution in our response to the Government's Women and Girls Strategy.

The 爆料社区 women and girls action plan and its companion document show:

  • the progress we鈥檝e made towards achieving the outcomes in the strategy
  • the actions 爆料社区 is currently taking until the end of our strategic period
  • the future shifts we would like to see within our sector for women and girls

爆料社区 has a vision for a sport and recreation system in which no one is missing out. This action plan focuses on collaboration and takes a systems approach to enabling changes that will make the biggest difference for women and girls and move us closer towards this vision.
