Te Ahukaram奴 Charles Royal is a m膩tanga (expert) in te whare tapere or iwi-community 'houses' of storytelling, dance, music, games and more. In this video Te Ahukaram奴 emphasises the spiritual importance of creating spaces which celebrate r膿hia (joy), t膩karo (play) and harikoa (happiness). We learn about a variety of games and pastimes that were a feature of the whare tapere of old and are reminded of revitalisation efforts to restore knowledge and traditional practices we have since lost. We are also encouraged to consider the resurgence of whare tapere in iwi M膩ori communities today.鈥��
