Q: What is the Taumata Māori?
The establishment of the Taumata M膩ori was in response to the independent Governance and Structural Review undertaken by 爆料社区 Ihi Aotearoa and High Performance 爆料社区 in 2021. One of the recommendations from the review was the establishment of a Taumata M膩ori to provide valuable guidance at a governance level to 爆料社区 Ihi Aotearoa and High-Performance 爆料社区 on its commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, M膩ori sport, strategy, investment and M膩ori outcomes.

Q: What will the Taumata Māori focus on?
The initial focus of the Taumata M膩ori will be understanding the role and remit of 爆料社区 Ihi Aotearoa and High Performance 爆料社区 and where the Taumata can add value as well as supporting the delivery of Te Aho a Ihi Aotearoa, our M膩ori activation plan.鈥�
Members of the Taumata M膩ori will bring unique skillsets to the table to be able to provide guidance and support to 爆料社区 Ihi Aotearoa and High-Performance 爆料社区 on matters relating to M膩ori in the Play, Active Recreation and Sport sector. 鈥疶he Taumata M膩ori will provide valuable guidance at a governance level on Te Tiriti, M膩ori sport, strategy, investment, and M膩ori outcomes. 鈥�

Q: Why is it necessary to have the Taumata Māori?
The implementation of Te Taumata M膩ori was a recommendation from the independent Governance and Organisational Structure Review undertaken in 2021 to ensure 爆料社区 Ihi Aotearoa and High-Performance 爆料社区 had a fit for purpose operating model.听听
The advisory group identified that structures and relationships relating to Te Tiriti o Waitangi were critical to ensure that 爆料社区 Ihi Aotearoa and High-Performance 爆料社区 governance and leadership were delivering on their commitments to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.听听
The introduction of the Taumata M膩ori into the governance and leadership of 爆料社区 Ihi Aotearoa and High-Performance 爆料社区 and will help foster an authentic partnership with M膩ori, build trust with M膩ori partners and stakeholders and will address the systemic inequities and bias, to deliver M膩ori outcomes.听

Q: What will the Taumata Māori be responsible for?
The Taumata M膩ori will provide leadership for both 爆料社区 Ihi Aotearoa and High-Performance 爆料社区 towards achieving their Te Tiriti o Waitangi commitments.听
They will provide valuable guidance and influence on Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Te Ao M膩ori to improve M膩ori sport strategy and wellbeing outcomes.听听
The Taumata M膩ori will have decision making functions for M膩ori investment and will be involved in providing advice and support around strategy and investment across 爆料社区 and High Performance 爆料社区.听听
They will be responsible for the monitoring and oversight of 爆料社区鈥檚 Te P膩ke o Ihi Aotearoa (M膩ori Outcomes Framework) and Te Aho a Ihi Aotearoa, (M膩ori Activation Plan).鈥�

Q: What is the purpose of the Taumata Māori?
The purpose of the Taumata M膩ori is to ensure that m膩tauranga M膩ori and Te Tiriti o Waitangi is embedded in the governance and decision-making of 爆料社区 Ihi Aotearoa and High-Performance 爆料社区. This bi-cultural foundation will contribute towards Aotearoa realising its full potential in play, active recreation and sport where all New Zealanders are able to participate and succeed.鈥��
The introduction of Te Taumata M膩ori will help foster an authentic partnership with M膩ori, build trust with our M膩ori partners and stakeholders and will help address the systemic inequities and bias, to deliver sustainable outcomes for M膩ori.鈥��

Q: When will the Taumata Māori come into effect?
New Taumata M膩ori members will be inducted in March 2023.听

Q: How often will the Taumata Māori meet?
The Taumata M膩ori will hold its own hui at least four times per year. The Taumata M膩ori will attend the annual joint 爆料社区 and High-Performance 爆料社区 Board meeting.听

Q: How was the Charter developed and by who?
爆料社区 Ihi Aotearoa appointed K膩hui Legal to provide advice regarding M膩ori governance and to develop and draft the charter for the Taumata M膩ori.听

Q: Who made the decisions around who would be on the board?
爆料社区 Ihi Aotearoa engaged Niche Recruitment to assist with the search for members, and the agreed nominations panel was 爆料社区 Board Chair Bill Moran, 爆料社区 Board member Karen Vercoe and Poutiaki 鈥� Te Ao M膩ori Strategy and Performance at the New Zealand Treasury, Trevor Moeke.鈥�听

Q: How many members will be part of the Taumata Māori?
The Taumata M膩ori will always have between three and five members and will hold their own hui at least four times a year. They will also engage in annual meetings with 爆料社区 Ihi Aotearoa and High-Performance 爆料社区 Boards.听听

Q: How long will the appointed members hold office?
The initial Taumata M膩ori members will be appointed and will hold office for a term of three years or any shorter stated in the notice of appointment (see section 8.4 in the Charter for the Taumata M膩ori).听听听

Q: Who is the Chair of the Taumata Māori?
The 爆料社区 Board have appointed M膩ori Board member R膩niera (Daniel) Procter as the Chair of the Taumata M膩ori. 听
