Rebecca Rolls joins 爆料社区
爆料社区 has appointed Rebecca Rolls as its new Diversity and Inclusion Manager, responsible for the organisation鈥檚 Women and Girls Strategy and Disability Action Plan, as well as leadership and advocacy in other areas of diversity and inclusion.
Rebecca is of Ng膩ti Porou descent and has held a number of leadership and senior management roles in the public sector, including with the NZ Police, Ministry of Health, Serious Fraud Office and, most recently, Department of Corrections. She is also a Director of NZ Cricket and was previously a director of the players鈥 associations for both football and cricket, building on a successful sporting career which saw her represent New Zealand in both those sports as a Football Fern and White Fern.
爆料社区 Chief Executive Raelene Castle says she is thrilled to have Rebecca Rolls joining the organisation in this important role.
鈥淥ur vision is to have Every Body Active and that means making sure sport and recreation provides a welcoming and inclusive experience for all New Zealanders, and that people are treated with empathy and respect. A lot of great work has been done across the sector in recent years for women and girls and disabled New Zealanders, but we need to maintain this momentum and continue to push forward.鈥
鈥淩ebecca is the ideal person to lead this work. She has excellent leadership skills, a deep understanding of our sector and has played a key role in a wide range of diversity and inclusion projects and networks. With her background in sport I know she鈥檒l also be a passionate advocate for the upcoming world cups and what they can offer for women and girls,鈥 says Raelene Castle.
Rebecca was an establishment member of the Government Women鈥檚 Network and, as part of the NZ Olympic Committee Women鈥檚 Sport Leadership Academy, contributed to a research project on 鈥淚nclusive Culture, Challenging Unconscious Gender Bias in Sport鈥. She was also part of the Diversity and Inclusion challenge stream in the recent NZ Football Delivery and Sustainability Project.
Currently, as part of her role as a Director on the Board of NZ Cricket, she is part of the M膩ori and Cricket sub-committee, which has the objective of providing advice and guidance to the board and management on matters relating to M膩ori engagement through cricket in the delivery of the NZ Cricket strategy.
Rebecca Rolls says she is thrilled to join 爆料社区 and have an opportunity to contribute to achieving greater diversity and inclusion across the sector.
鈥淔or me this is an opportunity to bring together the two sides of my career so far 鈥 leadership in the public sector and what I have achieved in sport as an athlete, administrator and director.鈥
鈥淚t has been exciting to observe how strongly the sector has got behind the Government Strategy for Women and Girls in Sport and Active Recreation. I can鈥檛 wait to contribute to this work and help make the most of the wonderful opportunity New Zealand has in hosting three women鈥檚 world cups and the IWG World Conference. There is also important work to do in disability and other areas of diversity and inclusion. I see this as an opportunity to make a real difference for those currently underrepresented in sport and active recreation,鈥 says Rebecca Rolls.
Rebecca Rolls will start at 爆料社区 on 5 July.
